A snapshot of round 10 of the AFL season

Highlights of the action from round 10 of the AFL season.

WHAT HAPPENED IN ROUND 10 OF THE AFL

THEY SAID IT: "It's like the story of The Three Little Pigs - we're trying to build a house of bricks that's going to last for a long time," Brisbane coach Chris Fagan after big, bad Collingwood defeated the rebuilding Lions by 45 points at the MCG on Sunday.

STATS THAT MATTER: Ross Lyon suffered the first 100-point loss of his 250-game AFL coaching career after Adelaide strengthened their grip on top spot with an emphatic 20.23 (143) to 6.7 (43) win at Adelaide Oval.

MEN OF THE ROUND: The Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round, with Saturday night's showpiece Dreamtime at the 'G clash, proved another fitting celebration of the contribution of indigenous players. Lance Franklin (five goals), Jeff Garlett (five goals) and Shaun Burgoyne (26 possessions, two goals) were among the indigenous stars to do their people proud.

KEY MOMENT: Hawthorn skipper Jarryd Roughead's match-winning goal came from beyond the 50m arc and with a tick over a minute remaining in the contest. It's just over a year since he was diagnosed with a recurrence of melanoma.

TALKING POINT: Umpire, please! Richmond fans were up in arms after Jayden Short was penalised for a deliberate rushed behind when he was clearly under pressure from Josh Green. The Tigers still won Dreamtime at the 'G but the call has renewed debate about the contentious rule.

TRIBUNAL WATCH: Sydney defender Heath Grundy's elbow to the head of Luke Hodge and Zak Jones' jab to the chest of Luke Breust will both likely be scrutinised by the match review panel. Port Adelaide's Charlie Dixon put a late hit on Geelong skipper Joel Selwood that will get looked at.

KEY INJURIES: Harry Taylor (Geel, eye), Sam Reid (Syd, concussion), Bob Murphy (WB, hamstring), Clay Smith (WB, calf), Darcy Moore (Coll, shin), Trent Dumont (NM, concussion).

WHAT'S NEXT: Port Adelaide host Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night then ladder leaders Adelaide take on Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Friday night in the match of the round. St Kilda, Sydney, the Western Bulldogs, Brisbane, Carlton and Melbourne have byes.
