Abbott backs our plan: Turnbull

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says his predecessor Tony Abbott backs the government's plan for the future.

Malcolm Turnbull believes former prime minister Tony Abbott is just as committed to the coalition's national economic plan as any other government member.

"Because they know that's the way for more jobs and more growth," the prime minister told reporters in Brisbane when asked about Mr Abbott's offer to help with the campaign.

Mr Abbott has posted a photo of himself greeting commuters at Manly Wharf in his Sydney electorate.
