Tony Abbott's comment about a Liberal candidate's sex appeal has earned him a nomination for an Ernie Award, handed out annually for the most sexist remarks of the year.
Also in the running are Mark Latham, for saying Mr Abbott must have had beer goggles on when he made the remark about Fiona Scott, and Mal Brough, for his Julia Gillard "Kentucky Fried Quail" menu item.
The Ernies recognise the top sexist comments in politics, media, sport, celebrity and justice.
The Elaine Award goes the woman who makes the least helpful comment for the sisterhood, with columnist Janet Albrechtsen, Liberal MP Bronwyn Bishop and model Miranda Kerr up for nomination.
The past two years has seen intense competition in the Ernie's race, organiser Meredith Burgmann says.

"Certainly the last two years have been the worst I've known," she said.
"And I'm sure it has to do with having a woman leader."
Tony Abbott's endorsement of Ms Scott's "sex appeal", as well as his one-woman cabinet, earned him a spot on the list.

Seven's Sunrise host David Koch also made the cut for his comments nursing mothers should "be more modest" when breastfeeding in public.
Some repeat offenders deserved a special mention, Ms Burgmann said.
"Mark Latham has been a star performer every year for about the last 10 years," she said.
The 21st Ernie Awards will be handed out at NSW Parliament House on Wednesday night, with all proceeds going to charity.
