Tony Abbott passed less legislation per day than both of his Labor predecessors.
During the 722 days with Mr Abbott as Prime Minister, the Government passed a total of 254 bills – equating to 0.351 acts per day.
This is less than Julia Gillard – the most effective Prime Minister to date at a rate of almost one bill every two days – and Kevin Rudd.
Mr Abbott did have several policy wins as leader, following through with election promises of axing the carbon and mining taxes with the help of a tumultuous senate.
His government also passed the controversial Foreign Fighters Bill in 2014, little more than a month after the largest counter-terror operation in Australian history.
There were a number of policy backflips throughout his period as Prime Minister, including his cabinet backing down on proposed changes to the Racial Discrimination Act.
Mr Abbott served for fewer days than Mr Rudd and Ms Gillard.
Prime Ministers Earle Page, Frank Forde and John McEwan have not been included in analysis.
