Labor leadership aspirant Bill Shorten says Prime Minister Tony Abbott needs to come clean about any plans to increase the GST.
West Australian Liberal Premier Colin Barnett reignited the GST debate on Thursday when he called on the federal government to find ways of increasing revenue from the tax.
Mr Shorten challenged Mr Abbott to outline what his plans were for the GST.
"I think Mr Abbott needs to come clean," Mr Shorten told Sky News on Friday.
"It's easy to throw rocks from the outside.

"I'm just interested to see how he goes balancing the demands of Liberal premiers versus the demands of the normal community who want to make ends meet."
He reiterated Labor's position that the GST should not be increased or broadened.
"We don't see the need to put an extra tax on bread and milk," Mr Shorten said.
"We don't see the need to increase the cost of living for Australians."
Mr Abbott ruled out changes to the GST during the recent election campaign but defended his decision to include it in his planned tax review.
