The bowler who delivered the ball that caused South Australian batsman Phillip[ Hughes' death will not be required at the Sydney inquest into the tragedy.
Hughes, 25, died two days after being struck by a short ball delivered by NSW bowler Sean Abbott during a Sheffield shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground in November 2014.
A NSW Coroner's Court spokesperson on Tuesday confirmed Abbott will not be called to give evidence at the five-day hearing at Sydney's Downing Centre.
The inquest has heard Abbott's last nine balls to Hughes were all short and that the family of the dead man are concerned he may have been unfairly targeted.
Players from the NSW side, including Australian vice captain Dave Warner, have denied there was a plan to bowl short.
Abbott has provided a statement as part of the brief of evidence to be considered by state coroner Michael Barnes.
It is expected Warner, who gave evidence from via audio visual link from South Africa on Tuesday, was the last cricketer to be called to the inquest.
