Allrounder Sean Abbott has been added to the NSW Blues line up for their Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania starting on Saturday.

After missing the Blues' ill-fated match with Victoria with a calf injury, Abbott has been named in a 13-man squad to take on Tasmania at Bankstown Oval.

Abbott is coming off a strong performance in the one-day cup, in which he took 10 wickets at an average of 19.70.

The Blues' match against the Bushrangers last week was abandoned because of the state of the SCG playing surface.

The Bushrangers were awarded all six points and the Blues' fixture against Tasmania was moved to Bankstown Oval.

The Blues are fourth on the Shield ladder with 8.1 points while the Tigers are yet to win a game and are last.

NSW squad: Moises Henriques (captain), Sean Abbott, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Carters, Ed Cowan, Josh Lalor, Jay Lenton, Nic Maddinson, Stephen O'Keefe, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Gurinder Sandhu, Will Somerville.
