Abbott to deliver Thatcher speech

Tony Abbott will go to London to give a lecture in honour of the former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Former prime minister Tony Abbott will deliver the annual Margaret Thatcher Lecture in London later this month.

The October 27 speech will be delivered at a gala banquet in the Great Hall of London's historic Guildhall, in honour of the former British Conservative prime minister who would have turned 90 this month.

Mr Abbott is described in the promotional material as an "iconic conservative leader".
