A Federal Court judge found that the sexual harassment case brought against former speaker Peter Slipper, was designed to further the interests of Mr Brough, who will be contesting Mr Slipper's seat at the next election.
There are reports the federal government has authorised a Queensland Labor M-P, Graham Perrett, to refer the matter to the police, saying Mr Brough may have breached the law by leaking sensitive information.
Mr Abbott says he welcomes an investigation, which he says will clear Mr Brough's name.
"They should get over it. They should accept that there has been no conspiracy here. They should understand that the only real issue when it comes to Peter Slipper is: why did the prime minister ever think he was a fit proper and person."
