Abbott's Pollie Pedal to help war veterans

Tony Abbott's annual Pollie Pedal will be riding for Soldier On this year.

Tony Abbott and other federal MPs will get on their bikes to help returned veterans group Soldier On.

The former prime minister, decked out in lycra, on Monday announced his annual Pollie Pedal event would raise funds for the relatively new organisation which assists serving and ex-serving men and women.

Soldier On was a "wonderful, wonderful new charity", Mr Abbott told reporters at Parliament House in Canberra.
