He faced Hobart Magistrates Court today when prosecutor Ian Arendt said Muirhead now also faced the state-based charge of possessing child exploitation material between February and June this year.
Muirhead's lawyer, Marita Altman, did not enter a plea on his behalf, and sought a six-week adjournment so the forensic evidence and statements could be analysed.
Mr Arendt had no objection to the adjournment, but noted the matter will likely have to proceed to the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Sam Mollard adjourned the hearing until October 13.
