An American woman whose Twitter name saw her receive hundreds of unwanted cricket tweets has landed in Australia, after Qantas offered her a chance to witness the series.
The unnamed Massachusetts woman, known as @theashes, announced her arrival via the social networking site this afternoon.
"I'm here!!! All settled in here in Sydney," she wrote.
She earlier praised Qantas, saying the flight was "nice" and that she loved the airline's iconic kangaroo logo.
The Australian air carrier had offered the woman a chance to witness the cricket series, after she received hundreds of unwanted messages on the sport she'd previously never heard of.
"I'M NOT A FREAKING CRICKET MATCH," she wrote in a message posted late last month.
She later pondered "what the hell is a wicket?"
As news of the Twitter error spread throughout the social networking site, a number of prominent businesses responded to the confused American.
Qantas stumped up the flights from the US to Australia, and mobile phone company Vodafone offered to buy tickets to the Ashes, and give the woman a phone so she can tweet about her experiences.
