Lawyers for a woman accused of murdering a Sydney police officer have told a court that evidence against her is scattered.
Detective Inspector Bryson Anderson, a 45-year-old father of three, was fatally stabbed while trying to calm a neighbourhood dispute over a bird cage in Oakville, in Sydney's northwest, on December 6 last year.
Mother and son Fiona Barbieri, 45, and Mitchell Barbieri, 19, have been charged with his murder.
Fiona Barbieri's lawyer Grant Brady told a pre-committal hearing at Central Local Court on Wednesday that there were various takes on where his client was during the events that led to the murder.
He said the crown's case to prove her involvement was "dramatically weakened" by some of the evidence.

He also questioned whether the crown could prove it was a "joint enterprise" between the pair.
The hearing before Magistrate Christopher O'Brien continues.
