Accused Qld cop biter to face court

A Queensland man accused of biting a police officer and injuring another is expected to face court on assault and drugs charges.

A Gold Coast man is expected to face court after he allegedly bit a police officer during a bungled escape attempt after he was allegedly found with a stash of drugs and cash.

Police say the 25-year-old attempted to flee after being stopped at Nerang on Saturday morning.

It's alleged he refused to leave his car and that he bit a male officer on the hand and injured another during a subsequent struggle.

The Ormeau man is expected to face Southport Magistrates Court on Monday on almost a dozen charges, including seriously assaulting police and possessing dangerous drugs.
