ACT considering a mammal emblem

Canberra is on the hunt for a mammal critter to be a territory emblem.

The ACT is considering adopting a mammal emblem to join the gang-gang cockatoo and the royal bluebell flower.

The territory government will hold an inquiry on the issue and is seeking input from the Canberra public.

"The adoption of a mammal emblem is more than just the chance to talk about a cute critter," Labor MP Suzanne Orr said, adding it was an opportunity to potentially shine a spotlight on the plight of an endangered species.
