Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has vowed to call out the "fear-driven politics" of One Nation, saying the party must be stopped before it enjoys further political success.

Ms Palaszczuk told a business lunch in Brisbane on Thursday that an "era of discontent" was being fed by a constant stream of "doom and gloom" in the news cycle.

Those facing economic instability had their fears exacerbated by other perceived instabilities, Ms Palaszczuk said, citing the threat of terrorism and global refugee crisis.

"It's a feeling in the community that is ripe to be taken advantage of by a political opportunist - something we've seen happen overseas," Ms Palaszczuk said.

The premier said many senior US diplomats, including Republicans, regretted that nobody called out presidential candidate Donald Trump "early enough to stop him".

She then attacked the One Nation party, saying it was now a "more sophisticated political operation than ever before" with $1.6 million in public funding alone.

"If we don't act now, and, as a community, say that the answer lies in hope and opportunity, not fear and loathing, who knows what the future might bring for us all?" Ms Palaszczuk said.

"I will call out fear-driven politics when I see it, because it's not in Queensland's best interests."

Senator Pauline Hanson, who leads One Nation, has said that she plans to field a candidate in every seat at the next Queensland election, due by early 2018.

Her party's success in the July federal election, in which it won four senate positions, has fuelled speculation of a comeback in the state arena.

Ms Hanson herself missed out on the state seat of Lockyer by a mere 114 votes at the 2015 state election.

Labor has repeatedly taken aim at Ms Hanson since she was re-elected, claiming her policies are harmful to Queensland's reputation overseas.

The government has also made political ammunition out of the LNP's willingness to leave the door open to potential One Nation preference deals.
