Acting PM tries to woo Senate on tax cuts

Senate crossbenchers are being lobbied by Acting Prime Minister Mathias Cormann as he turns his attention to company tax cuts.

Acting Prime Minister Mathias Cormann has written to the Senate crossbench as he uses his short time in the top job to pitch for company tax rates.

With Malcolm Turnbull meeting Donald Trump in Washington, Senator Cormann is making the case for a more globally competitive business tax rate.

"The only way we can create new, secure, well-paid jobs is if businesses continue to grow," he told ABC radio on Thursday.
