Actor Corr handed 12-month bond

Actor Ryan Corr has been given a 12-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to possessing a small amount of heroin in a Sydney court.

Actor Ryan Corr has been given a 12-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to possessing a small amount of heroin in a Sydney court.

Corr walked from Waverley Local Court on Tuesday afternoon without a conviction.

His lawyer Chris Murphy argued Corr's career could suffer if a conviction was recorded as he could be prohibited from entering other countries to work.

Magistrate Julie Huber agreed.

"It is quite clear that you are a young man with a long, successful acting career and there is nothing to suggest that career won't continue," she said.

Corr was before the court on one charge of possessing a prohibited drug after being found with a freezer bag containing 0.26 grams of heroin in a Bondi laneway in May.

No drug using implements were found on him and he never took the drug, the court heard.

His father told reporters outside the court he was always proud of his son and that his career would speak for itself.

Corr, who was dressed in a sharp navy suit, is due to shortly return to work on the Russell Crowe-directed movie, The Water Diviner, due for release on Boxing Day.

"I am looking forward to getting back to work," Corr said outside court before stepping into a nearby car.
