Actor Gerard Butler begins work in Sydney

Scottish actor Gerard Butler has arrived in Sydney to film the Hollywood blockbuster Gods of Egypt.

Scottish actor Gerard Butler is the latest star to jet into Sydney to film a Hollywood blockbuster.

The 44-year-old arrived in Australia on Monday, a month before filming for Gods of Egypt is due to commence at Sydney's Fox Studios.

Butler will star alongside Geoffrey Rush and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones in the $150 million film.

A crew of 200 have reportedly been working on pre-production before the project begins.

The film is directed by Egyptian-born Australian director Alex Proyas.
