ACTU call for union reps on company boards

A motion has been passed at the Australian Council of Trade Unions Congress calling on an elected Labor government to allow for union representatives on boards.

Unions want an elected Labor government to install union representatives on company and government-managed boards including the Reserve Bank.

A motion passed the Australian Council of Trade Unions Congress on Wednesday, calling on the ALP to change its policy at the party's national conference in December.

Unions want Labor's policy to allow for the appointment of employees at the table in private and public enterprise, with a union representative installed on the Reserve Bank board immediately.
