Adam Scott in hunt in KL tournament

Adam Scott has shot a second consecutive six-under-par 66 to be four shots off the lead going into the final round of the US PGA Tour's CIMB Classic.

Adam Scott has maintained a birdie blitz to give himself a shot at the US PGA Tour's CIMB Classic title in Kuala Lumpur.

The Australian shot a second consecutive six-under-par 66 to get to 16-under, four shots behind American joint leaders Brendan Steele and Justin Thomas going into Sunday's final round.

Scott made seven birdies in his third round at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

Steele carded a 66 and Thomas a 67 and they led by one shot from countryman Kevin Na, who surged with a 64.

Americans James Hahn, Brian Harman and Spencer Levin and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama were tied fourth at 17-under.

Scott Hend was best of the other Australians in a tie for 37th at seven-under, with Cameron Smith at six-under, Matt Jones and Marc Leishman (five under), John Senden (four under), Andrew Dodt (even) and Steven Bowditch (three over).
