NSW flyer Josh Addo-Carr has declared himself "sweet" for State of Origin III, despite being trodden on by Blues teammate Latrell Mitchell.

NSW coach Brad Fittler, who was on the Adelaide Oval sideline as part of the Nine Network commentary team, was a concerned onlooker as the Melbourne winger copped a nasty blow to the ankle in the Storm's thrilling 9-8 NRL win over the Sydney Roosters.

After floating from his left edge to the opposite side of the field, Addo-Carr got up hobbling after Mitchell stood on his right ankle in a tackle in the second half.

However, Addo-Carr later said he had only suffered bone bruising and would be right for July 11 game three.

"It's sweet, bro," Addo-Carr told AAP.

"Latrell just stood on my ankle - he weighs 120 kilos. It was bone-on-bone. I'll be all good. It's just bruising."

Addo-Carr experienced problems with his ankle during the week following NSW's series-clinching game two win last Sunday.

However, the 22-year-old was determined to be a part of the Suncorp Stadium dead rubber as the Blues shoot for their first clean sweep since 2000.

"I don't want to get too far ahead of myself but like the last two games we just have to believe in ourselves," Addo-Carr said.

"We have to believe in the game plan and execute the game plan.

"The belief we have in the side at the moment is pretty good, the vibe around the joint is good, the coaching staff and coach have picked really good people off the field."

Storm coach Craig Bellamy revealed Addo-Carr was at one stage in doubt of playing in Friday's clash in Adelaide because of his ankle however said he now just needed a few days to heal.

"He came in on Tuesday this week and he could hardly walk on his ankle but he was determined to play," Bellamy said.

"It settled down pretty well and he trained yesterday.

"He had some problems with it this afternoon but as long as he receives a bit of treatment, gives it a couple of days to settle down, he'll be fine."
