Adelaide backman Brown inks fresh AFL deal

Adelaide defender Luke Brown has signed a three-contract extension with his AFL club.

Adelaide defender Luke Brown says the AFL's unresolved pay dispute didn't enter his mind when negotiating a contract extension.

Brown has signed with the Crows until the end of 2020, with the three-year extension announced on Wednesday.

The tight-marking backman says he's unlike some other players who are awaiting a resolution in the AFL's next pay deal.

"It doesn't really cross my mind too much," he told reporters.

"The club have been good to me and the right deal was there for me to take and I was more than happy to take it."

Brown's signature comes as the Crows also try to lock Mitch McGovern and Jake Lever into fresh contracts.

"I'm confident that they're happy with the club and how things are going," Brown said of the duo.

"Obviously I can't comment on their contract, I wouldn't have much of an idea about what they're going through at the moment.

"But Wayne Milera and Eddie Betts have (recently) signed so it gives me great confidence that it's a good place to be at and everyone is really happy with where they are and I'm sure those two (McGovern and Lever) will do their thing and it will come along."

Brown will play his 100th AFL match on Saturday night against Brisbane as the ladder-leading Crows seek to bounce back after consecutive losses.

The 24-year-old said Adelaide would take a clear focus into the away match: win a greater share of contested ball.

"We have just got to back ourselves in and get our confidence back in what we do best - and that is the contested side (of the game)," Brown said.

"The last two weeks, the pressure has been intense but we just have to handle that better.

"And it starts at the contested ball side of things. We have been beaten the last two weeks and that is what we will be focusing on, not being dictated to."
