Adelaide's Matt Crouch needed only three quarters to prove himself worthy as the round-five AFL Rising Star nominee.

The midfielder, who turned 19 on Monday, was one of the team's best in the 65-point win over Greater Western Sydney on Sunday.

While it was the Crows' first win at Adelaide Oval, it was Crouch's third AFL match after his debut in round three.

His match tally of 28 possessions could have been more had he not been subbed out of the game at three-quarter time.

Crows coach Brenton Sanderson said Crouch had made an immediate impact at West Lakes.

"Matt is a fierce competitor, who makes great decisions under immense pressure," Sanderson said.

Originally from Beaufort in country Victoria, Crouch was the Crows' first selection, (selection 23 overall) in the 2013 AFL Draft.

His brother, Crows teammate Brad, was a rising star nominee in round 14 last year.

The pair haven't played a home-and-away game together after Brad's leg fracture in round two.
