The Defence Force has cleared Australian soldiers of any wrongdoing after an investigation into the shooting of two Afghan policemen last August.
One man was killed and another injured, as they approached a vehicle checkpoint near Tarin Kowt on motorbike, but didn't respond to signals asking them to stop.
The Australian forces didn't recognise them as Afghan police officers, because neither man was wearing a uniform.
The ADF report says that the soldiers should have used a warning flare before opening fire, but it may not have prevented the death in this case.
The report recommends a review to ensure all soldiers know the Australian military guidance and regulations for such situations.
