ADF Private in court over air base robbery

Australian Defence Force Private Tayla Stahl didn't apply for bail in her first court appearance since being charged with robbing a NSW air base.

A private in the Australian Defence Force has faced a Sydney court charged with the armed robbery of a credit union at RAAF Base Richmond two years ago.

Tayla Stahl, 21, did not apply for bail when she appeared in Penrith Local Court on Thursday, just hours after she was charged with four offences including robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

She was arrested at the air base earlier on Thursday after a two-year investigation by military police and the NSW Police Robbery and Serious Crimes Squad into the hold-up on February 7, 2014.

Stahl has also been charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol, conspiracy to commit an offence and possessing a prohibited drug.

She was remanded in custody to return to court in June.

Meanwhile, police have appealed for another woman they believe was involved to hand herself in.

"It's time for that person to come forward because we will be coming for you," Superintendent Brad Monk told reporters on Thursday.

He said there was no CCTV footage in the credit union when the robbery occurred, and it's not believed security has been upgraded since the incident.

"It's always ideal for all financial institutions to have CCTV footage and to maximise their security capability," Supt Monk said.
