Afghanistan is facing an unprecedented drought, and is appealing for food aid for 10 million people.

It's already the biggest recipient of aid in the world. Since the war began 10 years ago, international spending has totalled about $A350 billion, mostly on fighting and security.

About $A33billion went to aid -- or about $63million per week. Aid makes up 90 percent of Afghan GDP.
