The AFL has struck a deal with six commercial radio stations to extend its current broadcast rights agreements until the end of the 2022 season.

Triple M will continue to call matches in capital cities and regional areas, while Melbourne's 3AW and SEN, Adelaide's FIVEaa, Perth's 6PR, Sydney's 2UE and 2SM and Brisbane's Magic882 have all extended their rights.

No value was disclosed for the deal but a report in Fairfax Media's The Age newspaper put it at close to $10 million a year, up from an estimated $5 million a year.

The new deal will increase coverage of Sydney Swans and GWS Giants matches in NSW and of Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns matches in Queensland, the AFL said.
