Adelaide forward Eddie Betts will miss this Sunday's AFL game against Collingwood after having his appendix removed.

Betts took ill on Sunday and was rushed to hospital.

"It will be with the doctors of course but provided he recovers well, hopefully it will be just one (game)," assistant coach Matthew Clarke told reporters on Monday.

"There was no sign of it post-match but Sunday he was sore in the tummy and doctors got him in quickly.

"It's a significant out, obviously he's a sensational small forward."

The ladder-leading Crows are also assessing scans on the fractured cheekbone of midfielder Brad Crouch, who wants to play against the Pies at the MCG on Sunday.

Crouch played with the injury in the final quarter of Adelaide's 21-point win against Geelong last Friday night.

"The medicos are working through that at the moment in terms of the best management strategy," Clarke said.

"Obviously really impressive for us that he was able to play out the game, it was important for us to get that win.

"He is keen to play but we will leave it with the medical staff."

Defender Jake Lever is tipped to return from a one-match absence because of a hamstring strain as the Crows guard against any letdown after their stirring win against the Cats.

"It's a really even year and when you play really good strong footy, you're going to be a good chance to win," Clarke said.

"We have had games where we haven't brought the level and been beaten but across the season we have been pretty consistent.

"That was probably as a strong a performance we have put in, so we were really pleased with that.

"It doesn't guarantee you anything going forward but it was really nice to play that well and get that result."
