Chen is in Australia for four weeks, playing for the Southern Dragons - a local team with players from Cambodia, Vietnam and the Phillipines.

But it was his record shattering vertical leap of 86 centimetres - 8 centimetres higher than the current AFL record - that had the 20 year-old Guangzhou native, turning heads at an AFL testing camp in China.

But now, playing in Melbourne, Chen says speed and tackling are the most exciting parts of the sport.

"I like this sport. When I play the game I feel strong and fast," he told SBS.

"If I win a game in Australia it will be very beautiful."
