AFL releases finals schedule

Adelaide and Richmond have locked in home preliminary finals after the first two matches of the AFL finals series.

Adelaide will enjoy an eight-day break into a potential grand final, after the AFL released its schedule for the rest of the finals series.

As minor premiers and qualifying final winners, the Crows will enjoy the greatest advantage as they seek to play off in a first grand final since 1998.

They have been scheduled to play on Friday night at Adelaide Oval against the winners of next week's second semi-final between Geelong and either Sydney or Essendon.

Richmond, chasing a first decider since 1982, will host a preliminary final on the following day after their stunning qualifying final defeat of the Cats.

The Tigers enjoy a week off, when they'll resume their finals campaign against either GWS Giants, Port Adelaide or West Coast.

The AFL has yet to fix the starting time of that fixture, and will schedule it to allow the travelling side the chance to head home on the same day to minimise the disadvantage ahead of a potential grand final appearance
