A year after his horrific leg injury, star Hawthorn recruit Tom Scully could make a surprise AFL return against the Western Bulldogs.

Scully was named in the Hawks squad for the match at the MCG, the same ground where he suffered a broken ankle in round two against Collingwood.

It proved the last GWS game for the 2009 No.1 draft pick.

The seriousness of Scully's injury meant he became a bargain trade for the Hawks.

The Hawks had been upbeat about Scully's return early in the season, but Sunday would be much quicker than expected.

Fremantle forward Jesse Hogan, another boom recruit, also is in their squad for the Sunday away game against Gold Coast.

The former Melbourne Rising Star winner missed last week's big round-one win over North Melbourne because of an anxiety issue.

The final Sunday teams will be confirmed on Friday afternoon.

West Coast will regain star key forward Josh Kennedy when they unfurl their premiership flag on Saturday night at Optus Stadium.

But GWS have lost Toby Greene to leg soreness and top midfielder Josh Kelly remains sidelined.

Harry Perryman (lung) is also out for the Giants, who recalled Nick Haynes and Matt Buntine.

Former Collingwood player Josh Smith will make his Eagles debut, with Jake Waterman and Jarrod Brander their omissions..

Sydney will regain Ben Ronke and Colin O'Riordan for Friday night's home game against Adelaide.

Veteran defender Heath Grundy is injured and Jordan Dawson is out for the Swans.

The two teams are coming off round-one losses and the Crows also made two changes, losing Tom Doedee to a knee reconstruction and Richard Douglas (ankle).

Paul Seedsman and Kyle Hartigan will take their spots.

Essendon have kept the faith despite their awful round-one loss to GWS, with only one change for Saturday's must-win match against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

Darcy Parish, a surprise omission last week, is back for Jordan Ridley.

The Saints recalled Nathan Brown, Rowan Marshall and Blake Acres for Darragh Joyce, Lewis Pierce and Ben Long.

A training injury is said to have sidelined Carlton's David Cunningham for their Saturday away match against Port Adelaide.

Cameron Polson will take his place and the Power are unchanged.

Just 15 days after joining Melbourne, Jay Lockhart will make his AFL debut in Saturday's GMHBA Stadium against Geelong.

The Demons also regained star signing Steven May and Kade Kolodjashnij, with Charlie Spargo, Corey Wagner and Marty Hore axed after their round-one loss to Port Adelaide, and the Cats are unchanged.

Veteran defender Scott Thompson leads the North Melbourne squad inclusions for Sunday's home game against Brisbane.
