The AFL plans to review the tribunal guidelines on sling tackles after two controversial verdicts.
On Monday, Port Adelaide forward Jay Schulz was cleared of a tackle that knocked out Sydney defender Ted Richards.
That prompted widespread criticism, as well as confusion over what constituted an illegal tackle.
Schulz's tackle was similar to the incident last month that cost Carlton star Bryce Gibbs a two-game suspension.
Gibbs simply tweeted "I'm confused" and Blues football manager Andrew McKay echoed his sentiments.
"It's a fine line they have drawn," McKay said on Tuesday.
AFL football operations manager Mark Evans has confirmed the league will look at the rules surrounding sling tackles.
"I accepted the MRP's decision (on Schulz), but I also think it's now time to look at the guidelines - to maybe be more prescriptive around this, particularly when the arms are pinned," Evans told the Seven Network.
"I'd hope to be able to put some intelligent football managers and maybe some senior coaches and the players' association into the room and look at some vision."
Asked when there might any decisions on the tackling guidelines, Evans replied: "I'd just be reserved on that for the minute."
