Jack Riewoldt left the AFL tribunal nursing a limp, a lighter wallet and a filthy mood after his charge for a chicken wing tackle was upheld.

The injured Richmond spearhead protested afterwards that he is a fair player after his bid to overturn the misconduct charge failed.

He could have accepted a $1000 fine and instead Riewoldt is now $1500 out of pocket.

It's been a bad few days for Riewoldt, who learned over the weekend that the knee injury he suffered in the Anzac Day eve win over Melbourne will sideline him for about six weeks.

"The fine's still a substantial amount, but I feel like I'm definitely a really fair player," Riewoldt said.

"I've sat on the laws of the game committee for two years and feel like I play the game in the right ethos.

"Understandably, I'm really disappointed with how it's gone."

Riewoldt and his advocate Sam Tovey argued that the premiership Tiger did not apply a chicken wing tackle on Melbourne player Bayley Fritsch.

The Tigers noted that no Melbourne player remonstrated with Riewoldt.

He testified that Fritsch told him in the car park after the match that it was a pretty good tackle.

Riewoldt said he was only trying to stop Fritsch from disposing of the ball and was definitely not trying to hurt him or cause pain.

But after deliberating for about 15 minutes, the jury found against him.
