Brisbane will ramp up their efforts to land Adelaide's Charlie Cameron as the AFL trade period enters its final stages.

With just two days left before this year's trade window shuts, Cameron is one of several players whose futures remain unresolved.

The speedy midfielder-forward is desperate to play for the Lions to be closer to family and friends and Brisbane remain hopeful they can convince the Crows to part with him.

But Adelaide are sticking to their guns and maintain they will hold him to his contract next season.

"We're hopeful to land Charlie," Lions football boss David Noble told AFL Trade Radio.

"We're certainly having some open dialogue with (the Crows).

"We'd like to think by the time we get to the end of trade period, something can be done.

"It might be until Thursday until we get our heads together and see what that looks like for them."

Brisbane have four picks inside the top 20 at this year's draft - 1, 12, 18 and 20 - but Adelaide are pushing for a player in return if they are to let Cameron go.

Brisbane are also working to complete a move for Hawthorn veteran Luke Hodge and are still testing the market for Josh Schache.

Speculation continues about an Adelaide move for Carlton star Bryce Gibbs.

Essendon have completed trades for Devon Smith and Adam Saad but Jake Stringer remains in limbo.

The Western Bulldogs maintain they will welcome back the exiled but contracted forward, but he says that's unlikely.

Gold Coast are still working DCFSAXwith Geelong to secure Gary Ablett's homecoming trade, while the Suns are keen to work a deal for Fremantle youngster Lachie Weller who is keen to leave the Dockers.

The trade period officially closes on Thursday at 2pm.
