AFLW underdog tag means nothing to Blues

Carlton will carry winning momentum and a quiet confidence into the AFLW grand final against Adelaide.

Carton's AFLW season hasn't been one defined by labels from outside the club and coach Daniel Harford isn't about to embrace the underdog tag heading into the grand final against Adelaide.

The Crows haven't lost a game since their season-opening one-point loss to the Western Bulldogs and set up Sunday's premiership decider at Adelaide Oval with a 66-point preliminary final thumping of Geelong.

Matthew Clarke's side is the red-hot favourite to claim a second flag in three years, but Harford sees little value in adopting an 'us against the world' approach.

"It's not really a thing for us ... I don't care about (being the underdog) either way," Harford told AAP.

"One thing we've been able to do pretty well as a group this year is forget what's happening outside the club - the opinions and the expectations.

"I think it's been a really positive thing for the girls this year that they've been able to narrow their focus building up to a game and not be concerned particularly with what other people are saying.

"I'd be loathe to change that approach at this stage."

Carlton will take their own momentum into the grand final after comfortably defeating Fremantle, who finished second to the Crows in Conference A with the same 6-1 record.

After opening the season with one win and three losses, Harford has seen the belief of his players grow.

The Blues, wooden spooners last year, got the ball rolling with their first win in a year in round three against GWS, but it was a loss to Adelaide at Ikon Park the week before that proved pivotal.

"That was the day I thought 'We've got something here' so 1-3 didn't really concern me," Harford said.

"We've got a system that we think can work and the round two game, from a coaching perspective, was really important.

"We beat GWS then had a hiccup against Geelong, we should have won that one too, but since then we've really responded.

"We've added layers to our game and put together a really strong performance against Fremantle.

"So we now give ourselves a chance, and that's all we can ask."
