AFP officer shot in Melbourne

Australian Federal Police has confirmed one of its members has been shot in an firearms incident at its Melbourne's headquarters.

An Australian Federal Police officer has been injured in a firearms incident in its Melbourne headquarters.

Police and ambulance officers responded to the incident about 5.45pm on Monday, with the injured person suffering a gunshot wound at the AFP's La Trobe Street building.

Police are not looking for anyone else connected to the incident.

The AFP member has been taken to hospital and the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
