The alleged incident happened on Wednesday last week, before the airline grounded its entire fleet amid ongoing industrial action.
The matter was referred to the AFP the following day.
"The AFP is aware of an alleged incident involving a Qantas aircraft which was undergoing maintenance at Brisbane Airport," the AFP said in a statement.

"This matter is the subject of an AFP investigation. As this is an ongoing matter it would be inappropriate for the AFP to comment further."
The AFP has jurisdiction over Australian airports.
