An African research organisation says a mass pullout of African countries from the International Criminal Court is still a possibility.
It follows a meeting of African Union leaders in Ethiopia convened amid claims that the court has been unfairly targeting Africans, and largely ignoring crimes committed elsewhere in the world.
The leaders stopped short of withdrawing from the Dutch-based court, but called for it to defer the crimes against humanity trials of Kenya's leadership and also for immunity from prosecution for sitting heads of state.
Sivu Maqungo is from the South Africa-based Institute for Security Studies.
He's told Santilla Chingaipe, the option of a withdrawal is still on the table for African leaders at their next meeting in November.
