Amid the offensive by militants in Iraq, the United Nations and various humanitarian organisations are stepping up aid deliveries to hundreds of thousands of people who've fled from their homes.

Displaced people are sheltering in schools, hospitals, mosques and temporary camps, many without adequate water, food, and sanitation.

One non-government organisation helping the displaced is the International Rescue Committee.

Spokesman Sanj Srikanthan spoke to Zara Zaher.
