A team of specialists from Airbus has arrived in Singapore to help investigate the forced landing of a Qantas Airbus A380 plane due to an engine failure shortly after takeoff.
Airbus's regional communications director Sean Lee said the team was made up of six people but would not say when the group would be done with its work.
"An investigation like this, we can't tell how long it will last," Lee told Agence France-Presse.
Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said earlier that "material failure or a design issue" in the engine may have caused the mid-air incident yesterday that forced the A380 pilot to make an emergency landing in Singapore.
"We believe that over the next 24 to 48 hours those checks will be complete on all of the A380s and if we don't find any adverse findings out of the checks the aircraft will resume operations," Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said in Sydney.

"Those checks will involve eight errands for each engine to be undertaken."
