Nuttall's serving a total of 12 years jail for corruption perjury and receiving secret commissions while serving in the Beattie government, and is arguing he shouldn't be fined for failing to disclose the payments.

He says there was no intent to hide the loan arrangement with Mr Talbot, as it was recorded in the records of the businessman's private company and deposited into an account in his own name.

Nuttall also says he refused an offer from the DPP to plead guilty and receive only five years jail because the parliamentary guidelines are conflicting.

He says he's been punished enough for what he did, saying Al Capone only got 11 years.
