Al-Qaeda is reportedly preparing to release a new English-language online magazine called Resurgence.

The launch was announced in an online video release by al-Qaeda, showing a montage of video footage including a voiceover from a 1960s speech by American equal-rights activist Malcolm X and footage of the Boston bombings.

Shandon Harris-Hogan is a senior research analyst at the Australian Institutue of Criminology.

He told Peggy Giakoumelos Resurgence is a glossy production, most likely catering to people beyond the Arab world.
