All dogs can be dangerous: RSPCA

A parliamentary inquiry into restrictive dog laws will hear from the RSPCA, the Victorian Veterinary Association and Dogs Victoria.

The RSPCA, the Victorian government and some local councils will fiercely fight against introducing breed specific legislation at an inquiry into the state's dog laws.

Public hearings to be held in Melbourne on Tuesday will include presentations from the Australian Veterinary Association, Dogs Victoria and the RSPCA.

"The RSPCA is opposed to breed specific legislation in any form," a submission tendered to the inquiry says.

"The RSPCA considers that any dog of any size, breed or mix of breeds may be dangerous and thus dogs should not be declared dangerous on the basis of breed or appearance."
