Collingwood has confirmed the appointment of Graeme Allan as football manager, with the Lachie Whitfield saga failing to change the AFL club's decision.
Allan left Greater Western Sydney earlier this year to become head of the Magpies' netball program.
Allan was fully expected to take Neil Balme's job at a later date and that news was confirmed on Thursday.
The announcement came despite Allan being one of three subjects of an AFL investigation into allegations Whitfield tried to avoid drug testers.
Collingwood released a statement detailing how Allan told the club about the probe, which relates to his time at GWS, prior to his recruitment.
"Collingwood was also made aware at this time that both GWS and the AFL had concluded or were concluding separate investigations into the matter," the Magpies noted.
"From our discussions on this matter with various parties, Collingwood found no reason standing in the way of employing Allan.
"The club would like to make it very clear to all that if, at any stage, information received about any member of staff that brings into question their behaviour Collingwood will deal with that information with the appropriate authorities."
Balme, who has been linked to Brisbane Lions, has been offered a director of coaching position by the Magpies.
Meanwhile, assistant coaches Ben Hart and Steve Grace have both been shown the door.
Former Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson is expected to join the Magpies as an assistant to Nathan Buckley.
