A man has been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a French tourist in the Northern Territory.
Pande Veleski was taken into custody on Thursday after 33-year-old Philippe Jegouzo was knifed in the neck in "an unprovoked attack" in front of his wife at a roadside rest stop near Alice Springs the day before.
Mr Jegouzo and his wife had only recently arrived in Australia.
NT Police called the attack "random and obscure" and are investigating the motive.
Veleski, who is from Melbourne, remains under police guard in Alice Springs hospital where he has received treatment for heat exhaustion and dehydration.
