Almond grower withstands SA & Vic storms

Publicly listed almond grower and processor Select Harvests says its orchards suffered only minor damage in recent storms and its crop outlook is unaffected.

Almond producer Select Harvests says initial assessment indicates that most of its orchards have escaped damage in severe storms in South Australia and Victoria and its full-year crop forecast will be unaffected.

Select Harvests' nut farms on Monday said only two of its orchards had suffered just minor damage despite heavy rain, strong winds, and in some places hail, hitting SA's Riverland and Victoria's Mallee areas on Friday.

"This damage is not significant enough to change our current crop estimate of 15,000 tonnes and the damage will not impact either orchard's long-term productivity," Select Harvests said in a statement, adding that a more thorough review would be given at its annual general meeting.
