Aloisi not shocked by Moore's Roar exit

Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi says it wasn't a "complete shock" to learn of football director Craig Moore's resignation.

John Aloisi admits it wasn't a "complete shock" to see Craig Moore resign as Brisbane Roar's football director.

Former Socceroo Moore handed in his notice to quit on Tuesday and will soon depart the A-League club after nearly three years of service in the key backroom role.

The 42-year-old said he had achieved as much as he felt he could with the Roar, but it's understood he was also frustrated with how the club has been run under the ownership of the Bakrie Group.

"I'm always in conversations with people and my staff. It's never a complete shock," Aloisi told reporters on Wednesday.

"Of course, you don't want to see things like this coming ... but it's part of football - players, coaches, staff members come and go."

Aloisi said it was too early to tell when a successor to Moore would be installed or if he would even be directly replaced at all, hinting at a restructure of the Roar's operations.

Moore had a broad range of responsibilities in his role but was chiefly responsible for recruitment - and most of Brisbane's new signings this season have failed to fire.

A total of 17 senior players are coming off contract and with Moore on his way out, it leaves Brisbane vulnerable to approaches from rival teams for their players.

Left-back Corey Brown, the Roar's reigning club champion, has already been linked to a move to Melbourne Victory while it's believed in-form goalkeeper Jamie Young hasn't been offered a new deal and is considering his options.

The Roar are also dealing with the departure of general manager Brendon Boss, who is taking up a new position with Football Queensland, while the blowtorch is also on the team's fitness and medical departments due to a horrendous injury rate.

"Craig will be here as long as we need him and then within that time, we will be trying to sort out how it will look in the future and how we might restructure the football department," Aloisi said.

"I'll have help, it won't just be all on me.

"It's important you get good people around you and I'll have to make sure I do get more good people around me."

Despite the Roar's poor results, Aloisi signed a three-year contract last year and his position is not under any immediate threat.

"The club has shown what they want in the future, what they're trying to do, and I'm part of it," he said.
