The debate between Western and traditional medicines has taken a new twist, with claims Australian universities are undermining their credibility by offering courses in areas such as Chinese medicine.

An article in the Medical Journal of Australia claims that alternative medicines lack scientific backing.

But some traditional practitioners have dismissed the criticism.
