Amaysim buys virtual network operator

The mobile services provider Amaysim will acquire Brisbane-based mobile virtual network operator Vaya for $20m.

Mobile services provider Amaysim is acquiring Brisbane-based mobile virtual network operator Vaya to boost scale.

Amaysim will pay $20 million for Vaya, and assume another $50 million of its dues to Optus.

"The transaction will build on Amaysim's position in a consolidating market, enhance the company's scale and leverage its online platform," chief executive Julian Ogrin said in a statement on Monday.

Vaya has around 140,000 subscribers and operates on the Optus 4G network.

The deal is expected to be materially accretive on an underlying net profit basis for amaysim shareholders in FY 2017, the company said.
